Terms of use
Repository terms of use
These terms describe how Uganda Christian University researchers, students, staff, depositors, and repository users may deposit, access, cite, and reuse material in the Uganda Christian University Digital Institutional Repository.
Purpose of the repository
Uganda Christian University supports the preservation and dissemination of research and scholarship as widely as possible. The repository helps make UCU research outputs findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable, and preserved for long-term institutional stewardship.
What may be deposited
Deposited content must be connected to Uganda Christian University. This includes outputs authored by current or former UCU researchers, students, and staff; research conducted at UCU; outputs from UCU-hosted journals, conferences, projects, centres, and collaborations; and works created using UCU facilities or institutional support.
Accepted material may include publications, conference papers, book chapters, monographs, theses, dissertations, research data, presentations, reports, software, images, and other approved scholarly or institutional outputs.
Depositor responsibilities
- Depositors must have authority or permission to deposit the submitted material.
- Depositors must ensure that research was produced in accordance with relevant UCU research, ethics, integrity, and funder requirements.
- Depositors must identify third-party copyright material and obtain permissions where required.
- Depositors must provide accurate metadata, appropriate files, rights statements, embargo information, and supporting documentation.
- Human participant data or personal data must be anonymised or shared only under appropriate access controls and consent conditions.
End-user access and reuse
Repository materials are made available under the licence, rights statement, or access conditions shown on each item page. Users must comply with those terms and must acknowledge and cite reused material properly.
Unless otherwise stated, publicly available repository content may still be protected by copyright. Reuse must respect copyright, licensing, privacy, ethical, and legal restrictions.
Repository responsibilities
The repository is responsible for curating, storing, describing, preserving, and sharing approved research outputs according to institutional workflows and applicable funder or policy requirements. The repository may update, restrict, withdraw, or remove material where technical, legal, ethical, administrative, or quality reasons require it.
Where files are removed or access is restricted, metadata may remain visible where appropriate to preserve the scholarly record and support discovery.
